Blogging has been around since 1994, but with most new things, it takes time to trickle down to the masses. The majority of America did not have an e-mail address until the early 2000s, and that address would have been through AOL (America Online). But when WordPress launched a free online content management system in 2003, it made it easier for average people to create a space for themselves on the Internet without having to pay money to have a website developed.
Between 2006 and 2014 the Internet was inundated with cocktail-related blogs that are now defunct. There are a few popular cocktail blogs that have recently stopped blogging, but you can peruse their archives. These include cocktailchronicles.com and spiritsandcocktails.wordpress.com
Popular drinks writer Camper English lives in San Francisco and started this drink blog in 2006 as a spin-off of his personal website. English has traveled the world learning and sharing about drinks and has contributed to publications including Popular Science, Saveur, Details, Whisky Advocate, Drinks, Liquor, and many more. English pioneered directional freezing to obtain crystal-clear ice, has an incredible Flickr photo page from his worldly cocktail travels at flickr.com/photos/cramper, a great Instagram page at instagram.com/alcademics, and published a book titled Tonic Water: AKA, G&T, WTF.
Booze Movies: The 100 Proof Film Guide
William T. Garver first started writing an article for Modern Drunkard magazine titled “Soused Cinema.” Then in December 2006, Garver started his Booze Movies blog that not only shows clips of drink seen in film, but also comes with reviews of the film.
