I began my hospitality career in 1977, and in 1998 I discovered the Internet through WebTV. As someone who spent countless days off wandering the library, my first thought was, "This is like having an entire library at my fingertips. I could get hooked on this." I was right.

Not long afterward, I taught myself HTML and built my very first website.

This was before Google. Back then, I explored the web through Webrings, searching for everything I could find about bartending, bars, cocktails, spirits, hospitality, and drinking culture. I gathered, organized, and shared that information, eventually creating a comprehensive, one-stop cocktail resource that has continued to grow for decades.
